Case study: Pretty ensuite with bold green tiles
This client in Bedfordshire wanted to create a dedicated ‘hers’ ensuite which reflected her personality and style.
The vision
The owner of this townhouse in Bedfordshire wanted to create a dedicated ‘hers’ ensuite, to compliment her husband’s ensuite which was simultaneously re-designed by Dane. Not afraid of colour and pattern, the client enlisted Dane to help bring her vision of lush greens and interesting patterns to life, in a space which perfectly balances vibrancy and relaxation.
Deciding on a layout
This bathroom re-design was part of a complete renovation of the client’s home, allowing Dane the freedom to start from scratch with the layout. With the bath being an important feature within the design, Dane positioned it in the corner of the room, creating an impact as soon as you enter the space. This position also stops the room from feeling to empty in the centre. The wall-hung vanity unit and WC were then positioned flush to the adjacent wall, creating a sense of balance within the scheme. Lighting was added underneath the wall-hung furniture and in the niche above the WC, offering practicality and a hotel-inspired look.
“Onyx-effect tiles have been a huge trend recently as they have a luxe finish which helps create that hotel-inspired look.”
-Dane, Showroom Owner
The tiles
There’s no doubt that the green toned onyx tiles make the biggest statement within the room. The client fell in love with them and wanted to make a statement by running them floor-to-ceiling on each of the walls. As the tiles are large-format (600mm x 1200mm) and high-gloss, they create a sleek finish with minimal groutlines. By opting for white funiture and sanitaryware throughout the rest of the room, Dane was able to balance the scheme perfectly, stopping the onyx print from becoming too overpowering. A concrete-inspired large-format tile was then chosen for the floors, again helping to ground the scheme and enhance, rather than detract from, the wall tiles.
Finishing touches
The room was finished with brushed bronze brassware which brings a beautiful warmth, complimenting the flecks of copper and brown with the tiles. The client opted for modern, angular taps and accessories which maintian the contemporary look of the room. An equally modern round LED illuminated mirror completes the look and helps create added ambience and a touch of glamour within the room.
