Gallery: Moody ensuite with dark onyx-effect tiles and black brassware

This recent client project embraces all that is dark and moody to create a truly striking space. The ‘his’ ensuite to our client’s ‘hers’ ensuite, this space makes a real statement through its use of wall-to-wall onyx-effect tiles and sleek black accessories.

The brief for this space was to create something simple in design but striking in aesthetic. The client wanted the overall layout to be quite sleek and streamlined, with an unobtrusive walk-in shower and simple storage solutions. Nifty wall niches stop clutter gathering on the floor and accessories such as the radiator and towel holder offer smartly-designed options for storing towels.

When it comes to the look of the bathroom, it’s anything but and pared-back. The stars of the show are the large format tiles which adorn the walls and floor, creating a moody and masculine feeling, perfect for our client. The rich wood vanity unit and black brassware create a high-end industrial feel and perfectly compliment the brown and black tones which weave through the veining of the tiles.

The detail in the tiles is also highlighted by the thoughtfully designed lighting systems, including sleek hanging pendants by the mirror and subtle LED lighting within the in-shower storage niche. The large circular mirror helps bounce this light around the room and adds a softness to the predominantly angular design.

As well as a striking look, this ensuite is also incredibly practical. Large-format floor to ceiling tiles are easy to maintain as they have minimal grout lines and the large level open shower makes keeping the floor clean a breeze. Wall-hung furniture also helps to keep the floor space clean and clear.
